Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Upon your arrival in Tanzania, you will be greeted at the airport by your safari guide who will transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. This day is usually a rest day, allowing you to recover from your journey and prepare for the exciting safari ahead. You can explore the city or simply relax and enjoy the amenities of your lodge.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. This park is famous for its large population of elephants and baobab trees. You will enjoy a full day of game drives, observing various wildlife species such as lions, giraffes, zebras, and countless bird species. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park
Today, you will visit Lake Manyara National Park, known for its diverse ecosystems and incredible birdlife. The park is also home to tree-climbing lions, which are a unique sight to witness. You will have the opportunity to explore the park on game drives, take a walk along the shores of the lake, and enjoy a picnic lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will head to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4-5: Serengeti National Park
The next two days will be spent exploring the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. You will witness the vast open plains, home to the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. The game drives in Serengeti offer a chance to spot lions, cheetahs, elephants, and various other wildlife species. You will also have the option to take a hot air balloon safari for a unique perspective of the park (additional cost). In the evenings, you will retreat to your comfortable lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6-7: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Continuing your safari adventure, you will venture into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The highlight of this area is the Ngorongoro Crater, a breathtaking natural wonder and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Descending into the crater, you will encounter an abundant concentration of wildlife, including the rare black rhinoceros, lions, hippos, and flamingos. You will spend two days exploring the crater and the surrounding highlands, enjoying game drives and picnics in this stunning location.
Day 8: Optional Day in Arusha or Visit to a Cultural Village
On this day, you can choose to either spend a leisurely day in Arusha, exploring the local markets or visiting cultural centers, or you can opt for a visit to a Maasai or Hadzabe cultural village to learn about their traditional way of life. This is a great opportunity to interact with the local communities and gain insights into their rich cultural heritage.
Day 9: Flight to Zanzibar or Return to Arusha
Depending on your preference, you can either catch a domestic flight to the beautiful island of Zanzibar for a relaxing beach extension or return to Arusha. Zanzibar offers pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and a rich history and culture to explore. If you decide to return to Arusha, you can spend the day at leisure or participate in any optional activities or excursions available.
Day 10: Departure
On the final day of your Tanzania safari adventure, you will either catch a flight from Zanzibar back home or from Arusha if you decided to extend your stay on the mainland. Your safari guide will transfer you to the airport, bidding you farewell after an unforgettable journey through Tanzania’s remarkable wilderness.
